If the crux of us women is “what am I wearing?” when we leave it becomes “what do I bring?” These days my dear friend Valentina suggested that I enter a address book of outfits to pack and fashion tips and practicality for the various places I visited. It seemed like a beautiful idea, so I open this column with the most romantic of the Greek islands and I explain what to wear to Santorini.
Santorini is a white canvas with brushstrokes of blue and it is impossible not to pack garments that recall the colors(perfect also for your instagram photos!) So here’s a roundup of easy outfits with clothes you can find anywhere.
What to wear to Santorini- Outfit for Walk and photos in Imerovigli
Imerovigli are one of the most photographed areas(and Instagrammate) of Santorini, what could be the perfect outfit for this expanse of white facing blue? So if you’re going for a walk at Skaros Rock then I recommend you have comfortable shoes. You don’t need to be trekking but they have to allow you to stay comfortable to face the climb under the sun in peace. If you just want to enjoy the view, between the uphill and downhill streets then you can choose to wear low sandals, a denim shorts and maybe a very light white shirt.
What to wear to Santorini for aperitif at sunset
You can’t miss Santorini’s famous sunset or rather the Sunset Show in Oia. Choose your favorite beach view bar, order a Mythos beer and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets you can witness in your entire life.
The right outfit for Santorini’s sunset? Then I recommend a light white lace dress, comfortable paired as always with low jewel sandals and a small but quite capacious shoulder bag.
Outfits for Sunday Lunch at Fishing Village
Don’t miss a lunch of fresh fish in the village of Ammoudi. Informal taverns with tables directly on the quayside offering tasty dishes accompanied by excellent quality wines. Lunch at Ammoudi is an easy-chic experience and the right outfit could be exactly like this: short cognac color, white camicina, a shoulder bag, comfy sandals and an easy chic intonated scarf.
What to wear to Santorini for a Romantic Dinner
You are on the most romantic island in Europe, enjoy a dinner in Oia overlooking the sea and the thousand lights of the cliffs. In this case I recommend something chic but comfortable, because remember that even Oia builds on climbs and descents so the heel twelve is absolutely not recommended. Choose a skirt or alternatively an elegant shorts, a crop top, both maybe in the colors of gold or earth to enhance the tan. Don’t forget the jacket, often in the evening Santorini is damp or in the worst case breezy. Or an all black with an important jewel and you will be perfect!
Outfits for an afternoon visit of the city of Fira
Don’t miss it Fira, another white gem of the island; get lost in the streets, look for the most beautiful views, visit the beautiful Orthodox churches. What to wear?well in this case something chic: I thought of white shorts, a light blue shirt or something sand-colored, straw hat and espadrilles always chic but very comfortable.
What to wear for the Wine Experience at Santowine
Santowine is one of the island’s most famous wine bars. With little money you enjoy a fantastic aperitif with various tastings of local wines. Once again it is white that is the master, even in this location so I always propose something chic, ideal for this taste experience: a light or white denim shorts with a soft blouse in white sangallo. you could then match a wedge and a small bag of elegant size but not too much.
And here are some fashion tips, what you should definitely not forget to pack:
Shoes for the rocks
The bottom of Santorini is not exactly sandy, often you will find rocks and rocks not to mention the Black beach: in the sun that sand becomes scorching… having shoes will help you
It is still an island and although it is not very breezy, in the evening the humidity may annoy you. Bring a classic white or black blazer or jacket that you can match with just about anything.
Windbreaker for the evening if you rented a scooter
Don’t worry it won’t ruin the chic look for Santorini (you can leave it quietly in the scooter trunk) and it will protect you from annoying cool shots. The rental of the scooter in Santorini is almost mandatory to move from one area to another for this repair or it will be really unbearable.
If you plan to visit the caldera, don’t show off the most fashionable sneakers or those you are most fond of. Choose suitable shoes for walking on a scorching earth. Also avoid light colors and white that will become practically Black.
Jewel sandals not too high or flat
I do not recommend stilettos for the fact that walking in Santorini, between climbs and descents would put a strain on the supermodels. If the flat shoes just can not wear them then heel not too high, beautiful double and above all… Tested!!!
