As you have already read in our article “What not to do in Santorini”, you will know that we have advised you not to stay on this island for more than three or four days but to use it above all as a base of departure and arrival to visit other islands as well. Among the islands that we recommend there are certainly Ios and Milos and in this post we explain how to face the journey to Milos from Santorini.
Come and say hello on Instagram too … we love meeting other travelers
How to get to Milos from Santorini: the distance
Milos is approximately 2.5 hours by fast ferry from the port of Santorini.
By fast ferry we mean theSeajets companywhich operates the largest fleet of fast ships in Greece such as catamarans and high speed ferries.
journey
The journey aboard one of these fast ships takes place completely inside the boat.
Compared to the classic ferries, therefore, there is no bridge seat but only seats.
On the ship you will sit on board of leather armchairs and a bar service is available.
Tickets
We recommend that you buy tickets for the Milos-Santorini crossing in advance for two reasons:
- Seats are very limited;
- the cost of tickets increases when they start to run out of availability;
The cost is around € 50/60 per ticket.
You can buy tickets directly from the Company’s website:

Ferry to Milos from Santorini: alternative journey
As an alternative to the aforementioned company, you can also move with a classic ferry but the time it will take will be much longer.
For example with the company Zante Ferries, on board the DIONISIOS SOLOMOS, the trip from Santorini to Milos will last 5 hours and the cost is about € 16.50 per person (excluding vehicles)
The site of this company is not particularly simple so you can consult prices and timetables and buy tickets on this site:
https://www.ferryhopper.com/it/
In both cases, once you have purchased the tickets, you can also show them in digital version or print them at home.
Avoid the local agencies who will charge you 1 euro more for each printed ticket.
To travel by ferry you need:
Green pass
If you do not have the Green pass then you need a Molecular Test (within 72 hours) or a Quick Test (within 48 hours) or a Self-Test to buy at the Pharmacy.
