On our trip to Ibiza we couldn’t miss the most popular VIP island that is about 30 minutes by sea: Formentera.<\/strong> We start from cala Llonga paying 35 euros per person for the ida y la vuelta<\/em>, i.e. round trip. The boat trip shows us beautiful cliffs that precede Formentera,<\/strong>cliffs in the middle of the sea populated by seagulls and solitary lighthouses.<\/p>\n

The port of Formentera<\/strong> is as small as the island itself, we immediately notice. A river of people of all nationalities flocks to the offices of rent scooters<\/strong><\/em> and we also rent one after peaceful bargaining. Hopefully the weather assists us, it looks pretty cloudy and the wind is quite cold. We booked a two-star hotel, the Maysi hotel which, amazes us: a candid modern property directly on Playa Mitjorn.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"formenteraWe set up our things in the white and blue room of which we are guests and immediately run to enjoy this warm sun in one of the best-known beaches of Formentera: Cal\u00f2 d’es Morts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sand here, floury and white is caressed by Caribbean water; the sea even if agitated by the strong wind shows us its beautiful shades of blue and teal. You are enchanted to look at the climbs of the big rocks in the middle of this beach, rocks on which someone fishing and some seagull rests. It is the first days of June, Formentera<\/strong> there is still not many people, on the beaches you can earn quite a bit of space for your own towel and you can find a place to eat even at three in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We stop at the restaurant S’Eufabi<\/strong> that with 12 euros each offers us the menu of the dia<\/em>: first, second, side dish, dessert and coffee. The refreshment is completely white with colorful and trendy touches, the owners and waitress are smiling and very kind and the dishes have typical flavors <\/span>Balearic Daily Life.<\/strong> We taste the natalla<\/strong><\/em> and the coffee and after a chat with the Bolognese waitress in the shade of a tree, we move to another beach.<\/p>\n

\"formenteraWe are in Es Cal\u00f2.<\/strong> There’s a long line of mopeds parked at the side of the road, which makes us think it’s worth it. We cross a lush vegetation that grows surprisingly between soil and sand and in front of us we find a beautiful bay. So much blue sea that wider turns cobalt blue. Fine and warm sand, almost hot thanks to the sun that finally decided to shine. The wind has calmed down but in the air there is still a strong smell, a scent that mixes the fragrance of the sea with that of the plants, the scent that will forever remind us of this wild island. There are many nudists who wander casually among umbrellas and towels. Some speak a little more loudly but the atmosphere is still quiet and relaxed, suitable for the siesta.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"formenteraWhen the sun begins to recede, here again some chills of cold caresses the now tanned and warm skin. Let’s leave the beach is let’s take a quick ride to Es Pujols,<\/strong> Formentera’s<\/strong>beating heart. There are many bars and restaurants already populated with customers who dine or just eat a relaxed aperitif. There is not yet the movida that everyone knows, it is probably too soon, but you still breathe that slightly “Milanese” air that many talk about. The sunset, however, we enjoy it from our room<\/p>\n

\"formenteraIn the evening we are guests at one of the most beautiful and famous restaurants on the island, the Can Carlos.<\/strong> Crossing the Pergola on which the bougainvillea are lying, we find ourselves in this large and elegant courtyard. The brightly lit gazebo creates a boho-chic vibe,<\/strong><\/em>as does the wooden tables lit by tall candles. Details such as the handwritten menu and delicious dishes have the taste and sophistication of Made in Italy.<\/em> Lorenzo is a very nice waiter who accompanies us throughout the evening and advises us what to drink and what to eat. I suoi consigli sono graditi e preziosi, rendono la cena perfetta, come tutta la location in cui siamo immersi.<\/p>\n

The next day, the weather is not lenient at all : big clouds cover the sky is moments of drizzle force us to stop from time to time to seek shelter. However, we decide to wander around the island: beautiful salt flats even in bad weather. The water is pink, thanks to some microorganisms, the same as the flamingos (here is explained the color pink). The salt pans of Formentera<\/strong> are a Nature Reserve along with those of Ibiza and some neighboring islets such as Penjats and Ses Espalmador.<\/em> The salt flats of Formentera<\/strong> are also famous for the grasslands of Posidonia, <\/strong><\/em>which protect the waters and keep them clean and crystalclear.<\/i><\/p>\n

<\/i>We manage to discover coves hidden among the pine forest, wild scenarios where nature is completely untouched and the gray sky makes the landscape even more evocative.<\/p>\n

We also take the time to make a quiet visit to the lighthouse of the Mola,<\/strong>the largest lighthouse in<\/strong> Formentera,<\/strong>in Pila de la Mola.<\/strong> This is where the adventures of the protagonist of Verne’s “Journey Through the Solar Empire”<\/em> are set. This is the lighthouse of the ALBE, located in the East while the most beautiful sunsets of Formentera you can enjoy them at the Far de Barbaria.<\/strong><\/p>\n
