The Riads were and are dwellings of the Medina of Marrakech,<\/strong>characterized by an internal view that overlooks a courtyard. Typical of these Moroccan dwellings is the fountain or pool in<\/strong> the courtyard and the narrow lounges on the balconies,<\/strong> the b’hou,<\/strong><\/em>with painted wooden ceilings.<\/p>\n

Silence is the sovereign, there is a really strong contrast to the voices and noises of the outside. The pool’s water scrotum, birdsong or typical music just hinted at, are the only sounds you’ll hear.<\/p>\n

You will immediately notice this crazy break between the noise of the street and the relaxed and often luxurious environment of these large houses. Medina’s current riads often offer tourists the chance to use the pool, and they often also have a hammam<\/strong> in which to be pampered between massages, gommage, and clay masks. But if not, don’t misinterpreted your riad… it means that it has maintained the authentic style of tradition.<\/p>\n
